NYE

Watching a movie with my family and blogging, I'm loving this holiday season. I love spending time with my family because they keep me focused and remind me how far I've come. I ran into someone I went to high school with and she told me she keeps up with my blog, I thought that was the dopest thing! So hello and thank you for anyone who has read The B Word from the beginning or just clicking on for the first time, I appreciate all of you and all the love for the past year.

I think New Years is one of my favorite, if not my favorite holiday, because it's a celebration of what has happened and what's to come. I've said that I make goals all the time but it's truly a time I look back and enjoy what has happened. I think 2015 was one of my best years yet. I can NOT wait to see what 2016 brings.

AS for my last blog post of 2015, I wanted to post a NYE outfit option. I rarely dress in an understated manner so for New Years parties I'm usually in a gown haha! This dress is from ASOS and comes with the gold collar. I loved it and had to have it!

Cheers to an amazing year of blogging and to many more ++ Let's open the champagne and I'll see you in 2016. Follow me on Instagram to see what I'm wearing for NYE and more outfits

Going Off

When we shot this look, we kept joking that this is Brianna on the go. For the blog I usually wear heels, that's not my everyday. If it's not sneakers, my feet aren't feeling me.

I've been thinking a lot about self worth this week. Understanding that you are worth as much as you ask for is a powerful tool. I'm so grateful for all the amazing things that 2015 brought. I'm talking the good, bad and the ugly because without every situation I wouldn't be in the place I am now and I wouldn't be able to ask even more of 2016.

Please look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself you're worth it because you are SO beyond worth it ++

OBEY

Where did this year go? It's the holidays already and I'm over here thinking it's July. I'm really into making goals and resolutions for the new year but I really do it all the time. I make monthly goals, weekly goals. It really helps me feel like I'm moving in the right direction. Having this blog history, for almost a full year now, is an even better way to look back at the last year and see how I can better myself in the next year. I've been trying to lay low the past couple months because of some pretty serious health issues but I'm seeing the light at end of the tunnel after what seems like 7 months of sitting in doctors offices getting tested. I already starting to vision board for the 2016. Big things to come for all of us. I truly believe that ++

In my last post I talked about pushing myself and putting myself out there with fashion and in all area of my life. Note I never show my belly button, making some small steps haha

Lane Change

There are a 7.2 billion people in this world. I sometimes get overwhelmed with how I'm going to make a difference or stand out. This is especially true when it comes to blogging. It feels like everyone is blogging and I could get lost in the sea of content. What would make me stand out? What could make people click on The B Word? I've come to the conclusion that it's my voice. I can't be what these other amazing bloggers are because that's their own shine, their own lane. Being authentic to ourselves is our most powerful tool. What do we have to say? What do we think? What does our own lane look like? That unique perspective is what we each have to offer to the world.
Today we shot some outfits and I pushed myself to put together looks that felt like me. I'm not interested in doing anything that feels anyway different. Once a professor told me, "Don't chase fame and fortune, chase your passion and fame and fortune will chase you". That's something I'll never forget. Follow your passion, keep your voice and create your own lane ++

Masterpiece

When I was younger I literally wore anything that I felt like that day. We're talking outrageous combos and you couldn't tell me I wasn't on fleek. I feel like we lose that fearlessness with fashion as we grow older. I had these pants in my closet for a long time but I thought they looked too "out there". I said fuck it and put them on and I fell in love again, remembering why I got them. They made me feel like young Brianna again haha. I've decided to do more of that, be more courageous in my clothing choices and the outfits I put together. Everything doesn't have to match and be perfectly put together. A perfectly imperfect outfit is sometimes what I feel like wearing and that's what I love about fashion.

Happy (day after) Thanksgiving! Hope you all had an amazing holiday with love ones ++

LA Winter

Okay so I like to look great but I like my bank account to look even better. I'm all about finding deals while maintaining fit and quality. Of course I understand if you pay $10 for a dress, you may not have it forever but you have balance out those pieces with quality pieces. Ballin on a Budget is my motto! This dress was $20 and I felt like I won the lottery haha
I found this dress at Q Fashion. Not a place I usually shop but I was just looking around for some Faspiration, if you will haha. I saw this burnt orange color and I was like who is you? Then I saw the high-low and knot in the front and I was saved. I know it's fall and as blogger, it's a smarter business move to showcase full on Fall and Winter looks. It's a smarter move because we as bloggers can sell products and if you show what's in stores and people buy it, then you can get a deal with that business. I'm here to tell you I never want to sell you something I don't believe in. I get a lot of offers I turn down because I'm not here to lie to anyone. I don't want to promo something I don't 100% agree with or something I don't like. This dress made me feel fly and like I wanted to travel to a colorful island, so I'm posting it! I decided to wear it with this DOPE beaded chocker but I think if you throw on a bomber jacket or a kimono, you could rock this as a Fall look. I live in LA so this is a winter look, trust and believe!

Following your own vision, even if it's different from the "norm", is extremely important. In our differences lies our beauty. Be confident in who you are and what you have to offer because it's probably so much more than you even know!

Err'day

My go to Fall outfit: jeans, top, bomber, baseball cap, and Nikes. DONE. Variety and texture changes but the staple pieces stay the same. I'm living for these deep jewel tones that Fall fashion is offering. These burgundies, forest greens, olives, I'm here for all of it. I'm searching for jewel tone faux fur coats, those will be my next purchases fingers crossed!
I've been searching for a good, no great, pair of white jean and these are from ASOS. I'm not going to front on anyone, I would rate these a 6/10. They're long enough (YAY!) but the waist to hip ratio isn't working for me. They fit over my booty but too big on my waist, causing the evil gap in the back. Where do you find the best jeans?? Help!
Dressed up my everyday look with nude heels, white jeans, and a suede top

Have an amazing week! Be kind to one another ++

#BEinyourskin Table Talks

Back in August, five friends and I took the #BEinyourskin 31 Day Body Confidence Challenge. I created this challenge to help people confront their insecurities and start loving the skin they're in today. Along with the 31 Day Challenge my girl group and I did a table talk about body image, self esteem, confidence, race, media, anything and everything. It was an amazing experience to get a group of women who I think are not only talented, hard working, influencers but beautiful people inside and out, to talk about their experiences with body confidence. It created a sense of community between us knowing that we had all gone through similar things. No one was alone in an experience and I hope you too can feel that. We all came from different backgrounds, different cities, but we all connected. This was the beauty of the #BEinyourskin challenge! I can't wait to bring it back next year, new and improved. Check it out!! I share my story about self confidence in Part Three

Power

I get asked a lot where my confidence comes from and I don't really have an answer. Uhh loving what I'm dressed in, being happy, I don't really know? When I sat down and really thought about it I think my confidence first came from me faking it. Fake it until you make it. Tell yourself that you are the dopest, best version of yourself because YOU ARE. Fake it until you really feel it. I'm not talking about being cocky or arrogant, I'm talking about loving every part of yourself now, self love. The second I chose to live my life believing in my self and my work, worlds shifted. Start there, start with telling yourself that you are enough. Truly, that's where it begins. Gabourey Sidibe had a perfect response when a reporter asked her how she was so confident. This quote put everything in perspective for me.

“People always ask me, ‘You have so much confidence. Where did that come from?’ It came from me. One day I decided that I was beautiful, and so I carried out my life as if I was a beautiful girl … It doesn’t have anything to do with how the world perceives you. What matters is what you see. Your body is your temple, it’s your home, and you must decorate it.”

Authentic

"To want to be ambitious and to want to be successful is not enough. That is desire. To know what you want, to understand why you’re doing it, to dedicate every breath in your body to achieve; if you feel you have something to give, if you have a particular talent is worth developing—worth caring for, there is nothing you can’t achieve"
